Daynote - Fri 9 May
Getting to the end of Part 1.

Ah, Friday. And I got out for a walk. Lovely. It's really quite warm today, with the marine haze coming off the Firth of Forth. Feels very much like early summer, rather than late spring.
Poppy The Labrador and I had another excellent stick-throwing session as well, which is always a nice start to the day.
ON DECK: Very productive this morning. I got to the end of Part 1 of PROJECT SCARLET, chopping -390 words as I did so. I'm in slightly less polished territory now (two or three passes instead of four or five), so it's getting a little easier to find the cuts I need to find. And I'm definitely spotting little continuity errors and typos all over the place. But now I have a timeline and a character list to check things against. It's very satisfying to fix stuff, once you've actually finished the book as a whole.
LISTENING: I enjoyed this interview with writer and director Julian Simpson on Page One, all about his cross-media career in film, TV and audio drama.
WATCHING: Another episode of ANDOR last night and ooft, people weren't kidding about this three-episode arc. Compelling stuff.
READING: More beta reading yesterday, on my friend's fantasy novel. Things are (literally) hotting up in the narrative (there's a substantial volume of cannon fire). Also a bit of PLANETSIDE, which I'm still really enjoying.
LINK: I enjoyed this Runalong Womble review of Shauna Lawless's third book THE LAND OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD. I was one of Shauna's critique partners for this book, so it's really cool seeing it land so well with critics.
UP NEXT: The weekend! Some gardening, then a wee trip into town on Sunday. And then, next week, back to editing. Currently fighting the temptation to do a little secret editing on Saturday mornings. I may lose the battle, since I'm very much in the 'can't wait to be done with this book' place.
Onward!
