It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK, but it's also a deadline week, so I've been up working on PROJECT SCARLET.

I also posted a new (well, updated) story/hype reel yesterday, since it's ten days until the paperback of A RELUCTANT SPY comes out.

ON DECK: Four scenes down and -119 words cut this morning. I think I'll aim for about the same again later today. And I might take my laptop with me to an appointment later. When it's deadline week, I have to take little scraps of time where I can find them.

LISTENING: I enjoyed the second episode of the Le Carré Cast's deep dive on LEGACY OF SPIES yesterday while I was doing a bit of housework. Most single-subject podcasts can feel a bit thin sometimes, but this isn't one of them - there's always something new to dig into, especially with the Smiley novels.

WATCHING: No telly yesterday, between reading and housework and a bit of gaming, but I did enjoy this fascinating look at the world of 'professional wargaming' by the Youtube channel People Make Games.

READING: More of BELIEVE yesterday, which is ramping up the intrigue at an absolute rate of knots. I didn't finish it, but I'm definitely picking up pace.

LINK: I was clearing out a few of my Pocket saves after the vexing news that Mozilla is shutting Pocket down, and I finally read this long piece from the Atlantic about Seamus Heaney, written by the daughter of one of his academic mentors. An absolutely fascinating bit of personal history.

UP NEXT: More writing later today I think, we'll see how the day goes. Then the final dash towards the submission deadline on Friday. Also going on, some stuff I can't talk about yet but which is very exciting. It's going to be a busy and fun week.

Onward!
