Raining again this morning, so no walk, but extra writing time. Hooray!

ON DECK: Getting through the copyedits, I'm about halfway-ish. It's not a precise science, since some chapters have a few commas and others are dotted with timing things I need to check, changed capitalisations etc. But I'm working through them pretty systematically and it's very satisfying indeed.

LISTENING: I really enjoyed this interview on the BFS podcast with Sam K. Horton, who I shared a publication date with last year. Great interview.

WATCHING: A bit more SLOW HORSES last night and it's picking up nicely. I'm really not sure MI5 officers identify themselves at people's doors as such, though? Bit of an odd moment.

READING: More THE POWER OF THE DOG last night - got to a staggering scene depicting the Mexico City earthquake of 1985. Phenomenal writing.

LINK: There's a fascinating series of posts by Stephanie Booth (one, two, three) on 'rebooting the blogosphere' that I've really enjoyed reading. I remember when linkblogs were briefly a thing (there's still loads going) and when tumblogs also rose up, then most folk went to Tumblr (which is its own ecosystem now). I've been blogging throughout, though went through looooong periods of relative silence.

The 'daynote' model I've adopted is my personal favourite, but there's still that lingering feeling that you somehow need to also post it to social media, else it will go unnoticed. I'm old enough to remember when we all had an unshakeable belief that RSS would syndicate everything beautifully and RSS readers would allow us all to curate what we wanted to read. I still do that and I wouldn't have it any other way (and ultimately the whole of the social web is just RSS with extra steps) but I'm definitely in a tiny (tiny) minority compared to the broader internet.

UP NEXT: More copyediting! I suspect I'll finish on Monday or Tuesday. I'm fighting the urge to work on it over the weekend (I've got plenty of time) just to have it done.

Reminder that tonight at 7pm I'll be on the UK Crime Book Club with Tariq Ashkanani and Marco Rinaldi to talk about our respective wins at Bloody Scotland. You can watch it live on Youtube.

Onward!
