The Sitrep - Fri 30 Oct

A birthday, new paperbacks and a lot of proofreading.

Published by David Goodman in The Sitrep Share

Hello again! It's another Friday and I'm staring down the barrel of a day of meetings and proofreading, but I've had a mostly very nice week. Welcome to The Sitrep, my weekly update for paid subscribers on me, the writing life and sundry other subjects.

I had a slow re-entry to the day job because it was my birthday, so I decided to take the first couple of days of the week off and ease back in after Italy and celebrate. Valerie and I went to our favourite cafe in East Lothian, Drift just outside North Berwick, which is built from a collection of shipping containers and has phenomenal views of the Bass Rock and the Firth of Forth. Here I am contemplating both:

Me, in a blue shirt, drinking from a glass of water, looking out of a floor-to-ceiling window

But it can't all be very nice brunches and gazing at the ocean. There's been plenty of work to get done too. Let's get into it.
