The Sitrep - Friday 18 Sep

Bloody Scotland and slow, steady progress.

Welcome to The Sitrep!

This is the second edition of my weekly roundup, which is part of my membership programme, which I launched at the start of September. Thank you for subscribing and supporting my work, I deeply appreciate it.

This morning finds me in Stirling, waking up at The Golden Lion on the first day of Bloody Scotland. I actually came up last night, as I was very kindly invited to a thirty-year anniversary celebration of Chris Brookmyre's first publication. I had dinner with a friend, then went to what turned out to be mainly a karaoke night.

Chris wasn't doing karaoke here, this was the welcome speech. Karaoke followed immediately though.

I had an absolutely brilliant night, chatting and catching up with new and old friends alike. And it turns out Val McDermid is excellent (and very enthusiastic) at karaoke.

It's been a busy week before an even busier weekend, so let's get into it.
