Things are starting to happen...

Published by David Goodman in Daynote Share

The thing about publishing, right, is there's a lot of waiting where absolutely nothing happens. This is not news to anyone who's involved in the business, but it often comes as a shock to the non-publishing people in my life. I've lost count of the number of folk who are astonished when I tell them the lead time on a novel actually coming out into the world. And by many standards, my debut novel has been lightning quick.

So, it's a lot of waiting. But then ✨ things start to happen ✨. Yesterday I was somewhat blindsided when I got tagged by the best-selling crime author MW Craven. He's got a copy of my book and he's reading it! Ahhhhhh!

Intellectually, I already knew it was out there, that proofs were on their way to potential blurbers and reviewers, that it was happening. But this is the first time I really felt that.

It's a pretty cool feeling.

ON DECK: Still grinding forward on PROJECT SHARD - four more scenes and -65 words down. I don't think I'm going to finish it this week after all, but midweek next week looks likely.

LISTENING: Zoned out to Piano Chill this morning.

READING: Got to the extremely exciting last act of Hotel Orient yesterday, should finish it today. An absolutely fantastic book.

UP NEXT: SHARD will continue into next week. But I can see the end of it.
