Daynote - Thu 20 Aug
Chopping and changing.
For some reason I completely slept through my alarm this morning, so I missed my walk and had a shorter editing session than I'd have liked. Urgh. Still, I got some done. And some is better than none.
ON DECK: 11 pages edited this morning, along with checking off the last planned item on one of the bigger early edits in the book. Project VAULT is coming along nicely, though I'm only about a sixth of the way through the draft and I'm about a third of the way through the time I have to work on it. So... I've got to speed up.
Thankfully tomorrow is a full day of work on the draft and I'm hoping that will let me get through a significant number of pages. It'd be really nice to hit the halfway point of the book, but we'll see how it goes. When I'm editing and I properly get into the flow, I can do a lot.
LISTENING: I enjoyed this interview with CL Clark on VE Schwab's No Write Way podcast - I've seen Cherae speak at several panel events and it was good to listen to a more in-depth interview.
WATCHING: We didn't watch any SILO last night, but we did watch this rather lovely video about Naples (part of us getting excited to go to Italy in October). I remain agog that these are basically ad content for boxed wine.
READING: A bit more of LONDON STATION by David McCloskey (Bookshop, Waterstones, Amazon) - tremendous stuff.
LINK: Good to see this piece about communication in publishing from The Honest Editor. It can be very frustrating to be handled with kid gloves when you'd really prefer directness and honesty, so I'm glad to see that being discussed.
UP NEXT: Off out tonight to celebrate a family birthday, which I'm really looking forward to. Then a full Writing Day tomorrow when I'm hoping to make a lot of progress on the VAULT edit. Tune in on Monday to see how I did.
Onward!
