Oh hey, somehow it's Thursday?

And that means it's Kindle Daily Deal day!

A promotional graphic for the eBook version of A Reluctant Spy, featuring the awards roundels for the McDermid Debut Award and Bloody Scotland Debut Prize, and a 99p sticker, on a dark background.

My award-winning debut novel A RELUCTANT SPY is on a Kindle Daily Deal for today only - just 99p on Kindle and 99p for Audible members. Grab one or both before midnight tonight. If don't use this platform, other eBook and audiobook platforms often price-match, so keep an eye out for bargains!

ON DECK: I was fairly busy doing promo first thing, but I actually got going on the Scrivener file properly this morning, for Project VAULT. Working on the first few scenes in detail and structuring the parts and the main chapter points for the rest of the book. I won't have it done this week I don't think, but it's on the way now.

LISTENING: I enjoyed the latest episode of Drafting Notes, on killer opening sentences. I listened on the main Page One feed, but you can watch it on YouTube:

WATCHING: We watched a bit of THE DEATH OF BUNNY MUNRO last night - it's nailed that 2003-era feeling - flip phones and hedonism and existential dread - and it's a tragi-comic opener. I've not read the book (though Valerie has) so I'm just seeing what happens.

READING: More of DARK WATERS last night - I get the sense I'm about to hit the big finale, because things are getting tense.

LINK: If you're a UK-based short story writer, don't miss the submission window for The Best of British SF 2025, edited by Donna Scott - the window is earlier this year. I don't have any eligible work unfortunately, but if you had something published this year, take a look at the guidelines!

UP NEXT: More outlining, more Scrivener setup. And, I think, at some point next week, the very exciting step of starting a new book. Hooray!

Onward!
