Daynote - Tue 16 Sep
Remembering to breathe on the radio.

Well, yesterday was a day and a half!
I got into town and met my friend Tariq (and winner of the McIlvanney Prize) outside the BBC, then we were taken up to the green room where we met the singer/songwriter Lou Mclean and then Len Pennie, host of The Arts Mix, poet and also, it turns out, incredibly lovely person.

The interview went very well and both Tariq and I managed to get through it without stumbling too much. I did keep forgetting to breathe though. Need to practice that.
You can now listen to the episode on BBC Sounds:

After that I signed some books in Blackwell's and The Edinburgh Bookshop, visited family and then headed home, exhausted.
ON DECK: I'd intended to get back into the routine today and head out for a walk, but I also forgot to reset my alarms after Bloody Scotland, plus my cats decided I probably needed the sleep and didn't wake me up. So no walk or writing for me this morning, just nine solid hours of sleep.
Things are, thankfully, a lot calmer for the next couple of weeks, so I will be able to get back on an even keel and get some words down.
LISTENING: Obviously there's the show linked above, but on my ambles around Edinburgh yesterday I was also chuckling along to Ambrose Parry (aka Chris Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman) on A Kick Up The Arts.
WATCHING: Got back too late to watch anything last night, but I'm looking forward to finishing off KING & CONQUEROR this evening and catching up on ALIEN: EARTH as well.
READING: Still haven't read a word of anything. I've got a bit of a critique reading backlog to get through then I'll be back to NO ONE TO HOLD THE DISTANT DEAD.
LINK: A great review of my friend Nicholas Binge's new novella, EXTREMITY, which comes out today in the UK!
UP NEXT: After updating my alarm on my watch, I'll finally be back to the routine tomorrow morning and on to the PROJECT DRIFT draft again, plus getting out for a walk. Although I averaged about 20,000 steps a day over the Bloody Scotland weekend and yesterday in Edinburgh, so I've not exactly been slacking. But it'll be nice to calm down and get back on the keyboard.
Onward!
