Breezy at the beach.
A blustery morning today, so the kite surfers were out in force. As I passed a few of them were catching pretty serious air, but my phone camera wasn't really capable of capturing that. It looks like a lot of fun though.
ON DECK: A good morning, with 1,191 words on Project VAULT and 327 words on the short story, for a total of 1,518 words. I'm managing this whole 'two projects at once' thing but I'm unconvinced I could do it long term. I think I will maybe try and push through and finish off the draft on the short story over the next few days, so I can stop doubling up, because while it's possible, it's leaving me a bit frazzled.
LISTENING: I really enjoyed this interview on the In My Good Books podcast with reviewer Michaela Reads. I'm fascinated by the whole ecosystem of video/podcast/TikTok/Instagram book reviewing. It sounds like an absolutely phenomenal amount of work. I tip my hat to 'em.
WATCHING: A bit of GLADIATORS last night, with the grand final next week. Good, cheesy fun. Can't beat it.
READING: More of NO WAY OUT by Max Connor (aka Neil Lancaster, Bookshop, Waterstones, Amazon) last night, with the tension and stakes beginning to amp up considerably.
LINK: I was absolutely delighted to see this review of SOLITARY AGENTS (Bookshop, Waterstones, Amazon) from Dave at Espresso Coco. My favourite bit:
I loved the first book a lot. And the second is even better. If you like spy thrillers, or just thrillers, or just damn good adventure stories, David Goodman needs to be firmly on your lists.
It's a real relief to see returning readers saying they've enjoyed this as much as the first one. Always a worry with a sophomore effort. Thanks for the review Dave!
UP NEXT: A podcast recording today that I'm really looking forward to, then more words. Because there's always more words.
Onward!
