A very happy Friday to you.

Got a jab yesterday, so I had a bit of extra sleep this morning to hopefully stave off any additional side effects. So far I've just got a bit of a sore arm. Decent writing this morning, then I'll be off into town later to start my dogsitting adventures for the weekend. Looking forward to hanging out with River again.

I'm also deep into prep for my event next week with Gareth Brown, which now has a snazzy promo image!

ON DECK: A reasonable start to a new scene on DRIFT, with 388 words in the can. I'm staying at my friend's house tonight on my own, so I suspect I'll dig into this a bit more later after doing some crit reading. Might crack 1k for the day. We shall see.

LISTENING: Really enjoyed m'friend and colleague Nicholas Binge's appearance on the excellent Writer's Routine Podcast. Nick and I have been friends for several years so we've discussed (at length) a lot of the things he talks about in this episode, but Dan asked some great questions about balancing commercial realities with time and money and everything else.

WATCHING: I listened to Simon Reeve's autobiography STEP BY STEP recently and really enjoyed it, so we've started watching his latest SCANDINAVIA series on the BBC. It's excellent and making us want to go back to the region after we went to Stockholm in June.

READING: More of THE SOCIETY OF UNKNOWABLE OBJECTS and it's really revving up now. Twists within twists. Nothing as it seems. I'm going to enjoy quizzing Gareth about it next week.

LINK: Loved this Instagram gallery post by Holly Seddon about taking her book 59 MINUTES from initial spark of an idea to a finished novel

UP NEXT: Off into town, dog walking, reading, outlining. Really looking forward to it. Onward!
