A chilly start to April.

Absolutely knackered after my trip down south, so I stayed in bed an extra hour this morning. We also had a wild temperature swing from fifteen Celsius yesterday to well below zero this morning, so it looked a little frosty out (though very pretty and sunny).

There's a long weekend coming up, here in the UK, and I'm very glad about it. A wee smidge of rest sounds grand.

If you're looking for something to read over that long weekend, my publisher Headline Books has some recommendations (including my book!) for books now available on NetGalley:

ON DECK: I didn't manage to get my words on the short story yesterday or this morning (ran out of time in both cases), but I'm keeping on with the main project, which is (literally) the main thing. A cheeky 1,053 words and another scene nailed. However, as I was doing a photoshoot last week, I didn't manage to outline new scenes, so I'm about to run out.

Thankfully I'm very close to the end, so tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to finish all of the scenes that take me right to the end and, next week, maybe even write them all.

LISTENING: My friend Lorraine Wilson appeared on Write Now With Scrivener talking about her work, her hair-raising previous experiences as a conservation scientist and how she uses Scrivener. Fantastic episode.

WATCHING: We watched the first episode of the new season of FOR ALL MANKIND last night. I've seen a few folks commenting that this show has moved from alternate history into full-on Expanse prequel territory and, honestly, I'm here for it. It's great stuff.

LINK: In case you missed it, I wrote a long piece yesterday about making the decision to go part-time at my day job. If you're interested in the practicalities of balancing these kinds of decisions, I hope you find something useful in it.

UP NEXT: Ah, a long weekend. I will be doing some writing tomorrow and Monday, but I'll be going a bit slower than usual. And I'm looking forward to catching up with family and friends.

Onward!
