Another part done and dusted.

Finally got out for a walk today, which I'm very glad about. The temperatures have dipped slightly and there's a few wee clouds in the sky, so I think our 10+ day high pressure holiday of blue skies is coming to an end. But it was still lovely. I saw a hare in the long grass purely because of its ears. Bit of a giveaway, those ears.

ON DECK: I finished Part 3 of PROJECT SCARLET today, racing through ten short chapters, with a net word count of -189. I also had time to start working through crit notes on Part 4 and got half of them done, which is more than I thought I'd manage. The temptation to keep going was pretty high, but I made enough progress that I was able to resist and actually go out for a walk.

LISTENING: Really enjoyed this interview with Sarah Pinborough on the Talking Scared podcast. Once again, one of the best podcasts around for the depth and breadth of the interview.

WATCHING: An absolutely madcap finale of THE STUDIO last night and a great setup for a second season (which has apparently been commissioned). Bryan Cranston was very clearly having the time of his life in his role as the extremely drug-addled CEO, but everyone was on form. Great stuff.

READING: Really getting into BELIEVE by S.M. Govett, which I'm reading in advance of our debut panel at Capital Crime in June. I've just hit the point where the two POVs intersect for the first time and it was very satisfyingly done.

LINK: Phoebe Morgan's Substack is very much worth subscribing to (as evidenced by me posting pretty much everything she's written since it started) but this post is particularly fascinating and useful, because it happens to everyone at some point - how to build back from a disappointing publication.

UP NEXT: One more day left in this week's editing and I'm heading into Part 4 and feeling good about it. I think I will probably also work on Saturday or Sunday, or possibly both, maybe get a couple of hours each day to get Part 4 squared away and give myself a clear run at the book's finale in the last week before deadline.

Onward!
