Daynote - Thu 6 Nov
One page at a time.
Another slow-moving morning, working away on page proofs. Unsplash (unsurprisingly) doesn't have many good images of e-ink tablets (they're still a bit niche, tech-wise) so this blank iPad will have to do.
ON DECK: A couple of chapters done this morning. Slow, like I said, but I will perhaps do a bit more over lunch, since I have a busy weekend with family coming up and proofs are due in about four days. Somewhat regretting my decision not to do some of this while I was on holiday, but hey-ho.
LISTENING: I really enjoyed this interview with Australian former diplomat-turned-spy-novelist Sam Guthrie on the Spybrary Podcast. Sounds like an excellent novel.
WATCHING: A very enjoyable finale of SLOW HORSES last night - particularly enjoyed Lamb's last twist of the knife. Some early reviews said this season wasn't as good and I can understand where the complaints originate, but not sure I agree with them. Characters will always grow and change over the course of a series, sometimes in ways that don't personally satisfy you as a reader/watcher. Doesn't mean it's objectively bad.
READING: A bit of THE LONG WALK on my Kobo last night. Man, I've never read a book that manages to make something so repetitive and monotonous incredibly tense.
LINK: A wee reminder that I'm appearing at Denny Library next weekend as part of their Book Blether mini book festival, alongside Marion Todd and Kate Foster. Really looking forward to it!

UP NEXT: I suspect I'll put in a double shift on the page proofs tomorrow morning, plus squeee in a little over the weekend, as my deadline is rapidly approaching. But as of Monday I'm hoping I'll be back to the draft of PROJECT DRIFT. Unless, of course, I get more Exciting Emails. You never can tell when those emails are about to land.
Onward!
