Steady progress Tuesdays.

I did actually get out for a very pleasant walk this morning, but completely spaced taking a photo, so stock keyboard photo it is. But it was lovely at the beach. A lot less windy and I threw the ball (twice!) for Poppy the Labrador.

ON DECK: A very creditable 1,157 words this morning and about half of a new scene drafted. The story and its characters are starting to take shape in a very encouraging way.

LISTENING: I enjoyed this Best of 2025 episode (part 1) from the Le Carré Cast. It's a great podcast and this is a brilliant taster if you've not encountered it before.

WATCHING: A bit more of THE NIGHT MANAGER last night and it's recovered from a slightly wobbly start, I think. A very tense and excellent episode.

READING: I'm re-reading EXCESSION by Iain M. Banks (Bookshop.org, Amazon) at the moment, in preparation for a podcast where we'll be talking about it. Banks is one of my favourite authors and a huge inspiration for my writing career, but I haven't re-read this particular book since my early twenties. Very happily it is absolutely holding up.

LINK: I really enjoyed this Overview Effekt video about relative interstellar object directions and velocity. It's both beautiful and mindblowing:

UP NEXT: More drafting! Closing in on 19k and well on the way to my rough target. It's a quiet week otherwise, but sometimes (especially at the beginning of the year), that's honestly what's needed.

Onward!
